UK textile manufacturing survives at small scale and this division shows the shape of it. The largest code is 13990, other textiles not elsewhere classified, followed by soft furnishings at 13921 and textile finishing at 13300. Weaving and spinning, the parts of the industry that left, now sit well below the threshold. What remains is largely finishing, furnishing and specialist technical textiles, and it is concentrated in the old mill areas of the north and the Midlands.

What is the difference between 13921 and 13923?
13921 is manufacture of soft furnishings, meaning curtains, blinds, cushions and similar finished items. 13923 is household textiles more broadly, such as bed and bath linen. The two overlap in practice and plenty of companies could justify either. If your work spans both, list both codes rather than trying to pick a winner.
Are clothing manufacturers in this division?
No. Textiles are division 13 and clothing is division 14, so a company making garments belongs in 14 even though it works with the same materials. Suppliers selling to both should filter on the two divisions together, since the split is about the stage of production rather than the industry.
