That is the figure from the Office for National Statistics, for the first quarter of 2026. Eighty-three thousand, one hundred and ninety-five UK businesses closed. Not a recession. An ordinary quarter.

In the same three months, seventy-eight thousand, six hundred and fifty opened. Four and a half thousand more went out than came in. British business is not shrinking, exactly. It is being replaced, constantly, underneath you.

Which brings us to the list you bought in January. Eight companies. Three months on, three of them no longer exist. You will email them anyway. You will follow up. You will wonder why nobody answered. The list has no idea.

But every one of those closures was filed. Publicly. On the day it happened. Same for every new company, every change of director, every deadline coming due. It is all there, and it is all current.
