How do you check an email address before I get it?

Every email address we deliver was published by the company, usually on its own website. We check that it has a valid form, and we confirm with a DNS lookup that its domain runs a working mail server. We never guess an address from a pattern such as firstname@company.

What the check cannot prove

Nobody can prove a mailbox is live without sending to it, so we do not claim to. The domain check removes the dead domains that cause most bounces. If your first email to a lead still bounces, the lead is credited back to you automatically, once.

Addresses we never deliver

• An address whose domain does not accept email.
• A named person's address on a personal webmail domain (such as Gmail, Outlook, Proton or a UK internet provider's webmail), whatever the company type.
• A named person's address at a sole trader or general partnership.

Personal address or info@

The email may be a person's own address or a general one such as info@, because that is the address the company put on its website.
