Is it legal to email UK companies without asking first?

Our position, as our GDPR page states it: direct marketing to corporate subscribers (limited companies) is permitted under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) without prior consent, provided opt-outs are honoured.

In practice that means emailing a limited company about something relevant to its business, identifying yourself, and stopping when someone asks you to.

Where the rule is different

Sole traders and some partnerships count as individuals, not companies, so the consent rule applies to them. So does a person's own address on a personal webmail domain, even at a limited company. Leadistry holds these back automatically.
