What is the domain check (SPF, DKIM and DMARC)?

SPF, DKIM and DMARC are three records on your email domain. They show inboxes such as Gmail and Outlook that your emails really come from you. When they are missing, more of your emails can land in spam.

• SPF says who may send email as your domain
• DKIM signs each email so nobody can fake it
• DMARC tells inboxes what to do when a check fails

Checking yours

The domain check on the Mailbox page shows each one as in place or not, with the steps to fix it, including steps for Google and Microsoft. The records go wherever your domain's DNS is managed, usually the company you bought the domain from. Whoever looks after your domain or website can add them.

If SPF and DKIM both fail, the Desk tells you.

A personal Gmail or Outlook.com address

These need nothing. Google and Microsoft set up all three for their own addresses.
